Seán Barrett

Question:

128 Mr. S. Barrett asked the Minister for Health if he will have arrangements made for increased national lottery funding to be made available to the Irish Wheelchair Association to clear outstanding debts; and if he will examine the proposals submitted by this organisation in relation to annual expenditure so that they can continue to provide essential services to the handicapped.

Richard Bruton

Question:

131 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Health if he will have arrangements made for special national lottery funding to be made available to the Irish Wheelchair Association to overcome their current funding problems and allow them develop their range of services.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 128 and 131 together. The Irish Wheelchair Association has received annual grants from the national lottery of £75,000 in each of the last five years in respect of its home care attendants scheme. I hope to be in a position to meet shortly with representatives of the association to discuss their application for additional funding for this scheme.
