Vol. 419 No. 1

Written Answers. - Paediatrician Appointment.

Theresa Ahearn

Question:

129 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Health if he intends to provide a permanent paediatrician for St. Joseph's Hospital, Clonmel, County Tipperary; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The provision of paediatric services at St. Joseph's Hospital, Clonmel, County Tipperary is a matter for the South Eastern Health Board in the first instance.

I do not have any detailed proposals from the board regarding the appointment of a consultant paediatrician to this hospital. If any proposals are submitted by the board in this regard, I will consider them as sympathetically as possible in the context of the many competing demands for resources and the board's priorities for new developments.
