Question:

40 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce his views on whether publishing unemployment figures on a local basis such as Dáil constituency or postal code areas would have beneficial effects in identifying areas where industrial development could be encouraged; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Central Statistics Office publishes a monthly analysis of the live register by (1) planning region and (2) local office of registration.

This and the other information available to the industrial development agencies is sufficient to identify those areas with the greatest need and potential for industrial development.
