Vol. 419 No. 2

Written Answers. - European Social Funding.

Emmet Stagg

Question:

67 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Health whether the European Social funding to the REHAB for training at Park House, Stillorgan, County Dublin is all being used properly for that purpose; and whether the refusal of the REHAB management to agree to the referral of a regrading claim by members of the staff there, to the Labour Relations Commission, is a proper response from a body subsidised by the State and from European funds and also by fund raising and licensed lottery activities.

All agencies receiving ESF funds are required to submit audited accounts in respect of eligible expenditure claimed under the fund. I am, therefore, satisfied that all the European Social Fund moneys received by the Polio Fellowship of Ireland (which is a subsidiary company of the Rehabilitation Institute) in respect of its training operations at Park House, Stillorgan are being properly used for that purpose.

As the Polio Fellowship of Ireland is a private company I have no direct function in relation to the conduct of its industrial relations procedures. I understand, however, that a date for a hearing by the Labour Relations Commission of the regarding claim has been set for 25 May 1992 and that Polio Fellowship management will co-operate fully with the Commission's investigation of the claim.
