Question:227 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Health if he will outline the infant mortality rate in the Dublin area for 1991; and the comparative figures for (a) 1971, (b) 1976, (c) 1981 and (d) 1986.

The information requested by the Deputy is routinely published by the Central Statistics Office in its Vital Statistics reports. The last year for which an annual figure is available is 1990. Infant mortality rates per 1,000 live births in the greater Dublin area for the years 1971, 1976, 1981, 1986 and 1991 are set out in the table below.
