Vol. 419 No. 6

Written Answers. - Western Health Board Orthopaedic Services.

Pádraic McCormack

Question:

86 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for Health if he will outline his proposals to appoint extra consultants to the Western Health Board area to deal with the three year waiting list for orthopaedic appointments; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The position is that my Department has not to date received any detailed formal proposals from the Western Health Board requesting approval to appoint additional orthopaedic consultants. Should such proposals be received, they will be examined in the light of the board's priorities for service development and their overall financial position.
