Vol. 419 No. 6

Written Answers. - Health Board Land Sale.

Michael Moynihan

Question:

119 Mr. Moynihan asked the Minister for Health if he will clarify, in relation to all lands sold by the Southern Health Board, as outlined in the reply to Deputy Moynihan's parliamentary question on Wednesday, 18 December 1991, whether he had, at the time, consulted the Valuation Office before giving his approval to each of the sales.

The Valuation Office was consulted before approval was given to each of the sales of land by the Southern Health Board with the exception of the sale of 0.6 acre approx. at St. Catherine's Hospital, Tralee to St. Brendan's Trust. In January, 1985 permission was given to the donation of a chapel at St. Catherine's to the Diocesan Authorities. The chapel had been traditionally used by the local population. A car parking area of approx. 0.6 acre was also transferred to the Diocesan Authorities for the sum of £4,000. The advice available to the Southern Health Board was that the land was valued at current market value and this was accepted by my Department.
