Vol. 419 No. 6

Written Answers. - Croom (Limerick) Orthopaedic Hospital.

Michael Finucane

Question:

140 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Health if the support nursing staff at Croom Orthopaedic Hospital has been provided; the number of nursing staff being provided; the impact this will have on current waiting lists; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Discussions have been held between my Department and the Mid-Western Health Board regarding the development of orthopaedic services at St. Nessan's Orthopaedic Hospital, Croom. This forms part of a package of measures to develop acute hospital services in the Mid-Western Health Board area. My Department has sanctioned the posts needed for this development which include 9 nursing posts.

These developments will enable the number of operations carried out at the hospital to be significantly increased.
