Vol. 419 No. 6

Written Answers. - Rural Electrification Grant Application.

Michael Creed

Question:

173 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Energy the present position regarding an application for a rural electrification scheme grant by a person (details supplied) in County Cork; when the application was made; and when payment will issue.

The application in question was received in my Department on 23rd April, 1992. As the information supplied by the applicant was insufficient to enable a decision to be made it will be necessary to write to the person concerned seeking additional information. It will not be possible to do this, however, until the present postal dispute has been settled.

The Farm Electrification Grants Scheme does not involve the actual payment of a grant. Under the scheme the applicant is required to pay 20 per cent of the capital cost of providing supply required. The balance of the cost is borne by the ESB and the State.
