Vol. 419 No. 6

Written Answers. - Home Helps.

Jim Mitchell

Question:

197 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to any difficulties in relation to recruiting men as home helps, and if he would give details of the hourly and weekly rates normally paid to home helps.

The salary scale for full-time home helps with effect from 1 January, 1992 is in the range of £169.71-£180.33 per week. With regard to persons providing home help on a part-time basis, the position is that the rate of remuneration varies throughout the country and relates to the particular circumstances involved.

My attention has not been drawn to difficulties in recruiting men as home helps.
