Vol. 419 No. 6

Written Answers. - National Lottery.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

209 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Health if he will outline (a) the amounts awarded by his Department to various agencies from the proceeds of the national lottery for each of the past two years and (b) the amounts available to him for such expenditure in the current year; when he intends to make such awards in 1992, and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

211 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Health if he will give details of (a) the sums available to him from the proceeds of the national lottery in the current year, (b) the amounts allocated by him to date this year, (c) the amounts still to be considered for allocation and (d) the amounts still to be allocated; when he expects to make such allocations; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 209 and 211 together. The amounts allocated to various bodies from the Health allocation of national lottery funds in 1990 and 1991 are shown on the following schedules.

The amount allocated to my Department from national lottery funds in the current year is £39.8 million. Of this sum a total of £33.65 million has been allocated to date. Of the residue of £6.15 million approximately £5.35 million is already committed, though not formally allocated as yet. Applications for grants from the balance of £800,000 approximately are under consideration at present and I expect to be in a position to make a final decision in the matter shortly.

National Lottery Health Allocations 1990.
