Vol. 419 No. 7

Written Answers. - Kilkee (Clare) College.

Madeleine Taylor-Quinn

Question:

31 Mrs. Taylor-Quinn asked the Minister for Education if his attention has been drawn to the appalling conditions under which the teachers and pupils of Kilkee community college in County Clare are working and the fact that this situation exists for years and is constantly deteriorating; and if, in view of the enormity of the problem he will let the contract out to tender so that construction work can commence before the end of 1992.

I am aware of the conditions at this school. While the 1992 post-primary capital allocation is almost fully committed, the question of what additional projects may be allowed to proceed to tender will be examined again later this year. Every effort will be made, within the resources available, to include Kilkee Community College should additional projects go to tender this year.
