Vol. 419 No. 7

Written Answers. - Pension Entitlements.

Brian Lenihan Snr.

Question:

52 Mr. Lenihan asked the Minister for Education if he has received representations from a person (details supplied) in County Dublin concerning their pension entitlements following the closure of Carysfort Teacher Training College; when a solution will be decided upon; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Tomás MacGiolla

Question:

117 Tomás Mac Giolla asked the Minister for Education if he will outline the progress which has been made in his investigation of the case of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 20 concerning his pension entitlements while employed in Carysfort College of Education.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 52 and 117 together.

I am glad to say that following consultations between my Department and the Department of Finance, it has been agreed in principle that the claims for membership of the pension scheme and recognition of previous service made by the person concerned can be acceded to. My Department will be writing to that person as soon as full details regarding pension status and pensionable service have been worked out; I will keep the Deputies advised of the final arrangements.
