72 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Defence if he will outline his plans, if any, to increase the strength of the Permanent Defence Forces in view of anticipated extra overseas service with the UN; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There are no plans at present to increase the strength of the Permanent Defence Force. The matter will, however, continue to be kept under review.
