39 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Education if he will outline his plans for the development of second level facilities in Tralee, County Kerry; and whether he has any proposals for mergers or amalgamation of existing school facilities.
An extension to the CBS in Tralee is currently at an advanced stage of architectural planning.
In 1989, the Mercy Order agreed, in principle, to amalgamate its two post-primary schools in Tralee, at Balloonagh and Moyderwell, into a single post-primary school on the Balloonagh site. The question of implementation is a matter for further discussion with the Mercy Order.
No further proposals have been received by my Department for amalgamating other second level facilities in Tralee.
