Vol. 420 No. 3

Written Answers. - Wexford Renewal Schemes.

Séamus Cullimore

Question:

130 Mr. Cullimore asked the Minister for the Environment the amount of money which has been spent to date on (a) public and (b) private Wexford urban renewal schemes.

In so far as my Department is directly concerned, between 1989 and 1991 urban renewal grants of £339,000 were paid to Wexford Corporation towards the cost of environmental improvement works in and around areas designated under the urban renewal scheme. These grants were supplemented by funds from the local authority's own resources.

The latest information supplied by the local authority indicates that private sector projects with an estimated value of £15.3 million and public sector (National Building Agency, Bord Fáilte and Wexford Corporation) development projects with an estimated value of £1 million have either been completed or are in progress in the designated areas of Wexford.
