66 Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for Finance if, in regard to the announcement the Taoiseach made to the media on 30 April regarding certain proposals for Dáil reform, it is planned to provide additional staff and resources for the Houses of the Oireachtas to facilitate the longer sittings; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
At the request of the Ceann Comhairle, the Management Services Unit of my Department recently carried out a detailed examination of the Reporting Section of the Houses of the Oireachtas. The report has been made available in draft form to the Clerk of the Dáil and a reaction to its analysis and recommendations is awaited.
It would seem to me imprudent to make any assessment of possible adjustments to staffing levels in the area on foot of announced changes in advance of firm decisions on the main thrust of that report.
