Vol. 420 No. 4

Written Answers. - Tender Procedure.

Michael D. Higgins

Question:

67 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Finance if he will review procedures in his Department in relation to inviting design and build tenders for decentralised offices in view of the dissatisfaction that has been expressed in relation to the pre-qualifications of certain sites in Cork, which were not in public ownership, for the CSO offices which were subsequently allocated to the Mahon site; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have no plans to review the tendering process for the decentralisation of Government Departments. I am more than satisfied with the way the decentralisation programme is being handled by the Office of Public Works and with the progress being achieved. The selection of sites is based on location, suitability, availability and development costs in the City or Town where it is intended to build new offices.
