Vol. 420 No. 6

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

Tony Gregory

Question:

186 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will review the request of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 6 for supplementary welfare allowance pending his oral hearing for unemployment assistance as he has no income.

Under the provisions of the Supplementary Welfare Allowance scheme the determination of applications for assistance is a matter for each Health Board.

It is understood from the Eastern Health Board, which is responsible for the administration of the scheme in the Dublin area, that the person in question was asked to supply certain routine documentation in connection with his claim to Supplementary Welfare Allowance but failed to do so. His claim cannot be assessed until the relevant information is received.
