Vol. 420 No. 7

Written Answers. - Visa Application.

Jim O'Keeffe

Question:

61 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Justice if he will outline the criteria applying and the circumstances taken into account in any decision on an application by a citizen of the Peoples Republic of China for a visa to work and live in Ireland.

Every visa application, irrespective of the nationality of the applicant, is considered on an individual basis.

It is a requirement for any non-EC national wishing to take up employment in the State that a prospective employer must first obtain a work permit for the employment of that individual from the Minister for Labour.
