Vol. 420 No. 7

Written Answers. - Court Jurisdiction.

Ivan Yates

Question:

62 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Justice if he will clarify the position in relation to the procedure involved in upgrading a District Court to include the jurisdiction of a Circuit Court; if any consideration is being given to the allocation of a second Circuit Court in County Wexford; and if the Enniscorthy Courthouse, County Wexford could be considered in this context.

There is no procedure for upgrading a District Court to include the jurisdiction and there is no question of amalgamating them.

As regards Enniscorthy Courthouse as a venue for Circuit Court hearings, this is a matter for the President of the Circuit Court who has the statuory authority to determine where the Court shall sit.
