157 Mr. J. Bruton and Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline the estimated average annual amount by weight of domestic refuse per capita in Ireland and the estimated annual rate of increase in this figure over the past ten years.

The amount of domestic waste produced annually in this country is estimated at about one third of a tonne per person. There are indications of a marginal increase over the last decade.
