Bernard Allen

Question:

43 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Education if he will list the number of second level schools in Cork city without central heating.

The information sought by the Deputy is not readily available and its compilation would necessitate the deployment of staff from other more urgent duties which, in the circumstances, would not be justified.

P. J. Sheehan

Question:

44 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the application of a school (details supplied) in County Cork, which was lodged with his Department on 16 January 1990, for an extension to the school; and when approval will now be given and finance provided for the proposed extension.

My Department has already approved an extension to the national school in County Cork referred to by the Deputy and the project is at sketch plan stage. The sketch plans will be completed as soon as possible, and copies will then be forwarded to the school authorities to enable them to seek local authority planning permission.

Because the project is at an early stage of planning the question of finance does not arise at this stage.
