Question:

26 Mr. McCartan asked the Minister for the Environment the progress which has been made to prepare the regulations to give effect to the EC Directive on Access to Environmental Information; and if he will give an assurance that these regulations will be in place before 31 December 1992.

Section 110 of the Environmental Protection Agency Act, 1992 will enable the requirements of EC Directive 90/313/EEC on Freedom of Access to Information on the Environment to be implemented in full in Ireland by means of regulations. It is my intention to have these regulations made before 31 December, 1992.
