Question:

85 Mr. V. Brady asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will give details of the number of Parliamentary Questions tabled to him for the year 1991 and the total cost involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The total number of Parliamentary Questions tabled to me for the year 1991 was 618. It would not be possible to give details of the total cost involved without undertaking a major costing exercise in respect of each Parliamentary Question in 1991.

However, I would refer the Deputy to the answer given by the Minister for Finance to a Parliamentary Question on 13 February 1992, in which he stated that the average cost of answering a Parliamentary Question in 1992 terms would be about £64.
