Written Answers. - Hospitals Construction Expenditure.

Question:

128 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Health if he will outline the amounts spent in each financial year since 1980 on (a) the construction of hospitals and (b) the renovation or physical improvement of hospitals.

The information under the headings requested by the Deputy is not readily available in my Department.

However, the following table gives the amount of capital funds disbursed by my Department in respect of hospital projects in each of the years 1980-1991.

The figures in the table include disbursements from the capital subheads and bank term loans made available to health agencies for capital purposes. Details of expenditure of a capital nature incurred on hospitals by health agencies from their revenue allocations and other sources are not available to my Department and are not included.
If the Deputy requires information in relation to a specific hospital project I will make every effort to facilitate him.
