Last year my colleague, Mr. Chris Flood, the Minister for State, received a Carers Charter prepared by Soroptimists International of the Republic of Ireland. My Department has circulated copies of the Charter to each health board, asking them to take the charter into account in preparing their plans to implement fully the commitments of the Programme for Economic and Social Progress to develop health services for the elderly, the mentally ill and people with physical and intellectual disabilities.
