Vol. 421 No. 5

Written Answers. - Naas (Kildare) Hospital.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

72 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Health the reason he did not announce the schedule for implementation of the remaining stages of the Naas hospital development programme in County Kildare during his recent visit to the hospital; if he will confirm that there is no deviation from the original proposals to upgrade the Naas hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Question:

136 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Health if he will outline his intentions for the implementation of the Naas hospital development programme; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 72 and 136 together.

The Deputy will be aware that the first phase of the development of Naas Hospital which incorporates a new psychiatric unit and boiler house was commissioned in December, 1991. While the capital allocation available to my Department for 1992 does not allow for the recommencement of this project in the current year, I will be considering the further development of the hospital in the context of the capital resources available to my Department in future years.
