Vol. 421 No. 6

Report of Committee of Selection.

The Committe of Selection reports that it has nominated the following Members to serve on the Special Committee on the Solicitors (Amendment) Bill, 1991:—Deputies Dermot Ahern, Bernard Allen, John Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny), Bill Cotter, Noel Davern, John Dennehy, Tom Enright, Pat McCartan, Mícheál Martin, Willie O'Dea (Minister of State at the Department of Justice), John O'Donoghue, Máirín Quill, Dick Roche, Alan Shatter and Mervyn Taylor.

I move: "That the Report be laid before the Dáil."

With your permission, Sir, may I inquire of the Taoiseach if he can give an undertaking to this House that the necessary back-up staff will be available to report the proceedings of this Select Committee that we are about to establish, in view of the matter I raised yesterday, that Committee Stage proceedings of the Select Committee on Finance will not be printed and available for the public and the Members until September?

Hear, hear.

I would like to assist the Deputy but we must remember that the House has already decided to deal with this matter without debate.

It is a very relevant point.

Perhaps the Taoiseach would like to reply to the question.

The matter raised by the Deputy yesterday is being investigated to see what remedies can be applied and my office will be in touch with him as soon as they have information.

Question put and agreed to.
