108 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Justice the reason for the delay in appointing a taxing master to the High Court to replace the recently retired taxing master; when a taxing master will be appointed; whether his attention has been drawn to the fact that the delay in appointing a taxing master has resulted in a substantial backlog of High Court and Supreme Court cases awaiting taxation; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A proposal for the filling of the vacancy created by the retirement of a taxing master earlier this month will be brought before the Government shortly.
