Written Answers. - Sligo Swimming Pool.

Question:

118 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Education if he will immediately make an extra allocation to Sligo Corporation for the provision of a swimming pool in Sligo, due to the fact that the lowest tender, together with the fees received, amounts to £1.2 million and the allocation of £1 million from his Department remains in place; and if he will make provision for the extra £0.2 million so that the project can commence without delay.

A grant of £1 million has been allocated to Sligo Corporation under my Department's multi-annual capital programme for the provision of major sports facilities at regional and local level. A report on the tenders for the project together with proposals for the management of the facility and the level of grant available for the project is under consideration by my Department at present. I hope to be in a position shortly to advise Sligo Corporation of the outcome.
