Vol. 421 No. 8

Written Answers. - Ministerial Staffing

Jim Mitchell

Question:

120 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Education if he will give details of the total number of staff, either full-time or part-time, working (a) in his private ministerial office, (b) in his constituency office and (c) elsewhere in his Department but working personally for him; if he will outline (1) the number, if any, working for him under consultancy agreements or contracts and (2) the salary level or fees payable in each case; and if he will list the names of the people in each case.

There is a total of 15 full-time civil servants working in my private ministerial and constituency offices.

I have also appointed a special adviser (Mr. Richard Doyle), a press officer (Mr. Joe Jennings), a personal assistant (Mr. Frank Lahiffe) and a personal secretary (Mrs. Mary Browne).

Nobody else in the Department is working personally for me nor do I have anyone working for me at present under consultancy agreements or contracts.
