Question:

142 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Education the present position in relation to the proposed post-primary school for Dunboyne, County Meath, in the light of recent correspondence from the Bishop of Meath to him proposing a 750 pupil diocesan secondary school; and if he will make an early response in order to allow planning to commence on this much needed school.

The correspondence referred to by the Deputy has not been received in my Departmenty to date. I am aware that the Bishop of Meath has indicated his preference for a diocesan secondary school for Dunboyne. Consultations will take place shortly with all concerned interests regarding the proposed school.

143 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Education the present position in relation to the proposed extension to Dunshaughlin Community School, County Meath; and if he will confirm that the proposed matrix built classrooms will be in place for the commencement of the school year in September.

An application for additional accommodation at this school is under consideration in my Department and a decision on the matter will be conveyed to County Meath Vocational Education Committee as soon as possible.

144 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Education the present position in relation to the proposed new building for Ashbourne all-Irish school, County Meath; and if he will confirm the expected date of commencement of the school in view of the fact that the money has been allowed for in this year's allocation.

Tenders have been invited for the proposed new all-Irish national school, Ashbourne, County Meath. The closing date for receipt of tenders is 31 July 1992. Pending receipt and examination of the tenders, I am not in a position to say when construction work will commence.
