Vol. 421 No. 8

Written Answers. - Ministerial Staff.

Jim Mitchell

Question:

185 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details of the total number of staff, either full-time or part-time working, (a) in his private ministerial office, (b) in his constituency office and (c) elsewhere in his Department but working personally for him; if he will outline (1) the number, if any, working for him under consultancy agreements or contracts and (2) the salary level or fees payable in each case; and if he will list the names of the people in each case.

There are seven people working in my private office and the equivalent of six full-time persons in my constituency office, including two job-sharers. These numbers include a Personal Assistant (Mr. D. Shanahan) and a Personal Secretary (Ms. L. Hyland) who are employed on a contract basis and are paid £203.07 and £177.21 per week, respectively. In addition, Mr. J. Casey is employed on a contract basis as a special adviser at a salary of £18,145 per annum.
