Vol. 421 No. 8

Written Answers. - Defence Forces Promotion Board.

Joe Sherlock

Question:

45 Mr. Sherlock asked the Minister for Defence when he intends to appoint a civilian to the interview board which has been established to consider the appointment of three new brigadier generals; the reason for the delay in appointing the civilian member; when it is expected that the board will meet and conduct interviews; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have recently nominated a civilian to the promotion board which is being set up for the purpose of filling vacancies in the rank of Brigadier-General. I understand that the board are due to have an initial meeting later this week and that interviews will be held as soon as possible thereafter.

There was no undue delay on my part in nominating a civilian to the board.
