Written Answers. - Wexford General Hospital.

Séamus Cullimore

Question:

97 Mr. Cullimore asked the Minister for Health when the extension to Wexford General Hospital, County Wexford will officially open; if he will outline the facilities, if any, which are available and the total cost of the extension.

I understand from the South Eastern Health Board that the extension to Wexford General Hospital is scheduled for commissioning on 21 July 1992.

The new 15 bed medical unit opened before Christmas and the remaining facilities which include two standard wards of 32 beds each, two operating theatres, a paediatric unit, a radiology department, out-patients and accident and emergency departments, endoscopy and intensive care units, catering and staff dining department and other ancillary services will open on 21 July 1992. The total cost of this development is expected to be in the region of £13 million.
