103 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment if he intends to seek the necessary funding from the European Community for Euro roads other than those already outlined; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The Operational Programme on Peripherality, which covers the period to end-1993, provides for substantial partfinancing by the EC of improvement works on Euro routes, other national roads, and non-national roads which support economic development. In the negotiations on the allocation of the Structural Funds in the period after 1993, and on the allocation of aid from the Cohesion Fund, I will be seeking maximum assistance for continuing development of these categories of roads.
