Question:134 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for the Marine if he has any plans to expand Ballyglass Harbour in County Mayo; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department's current Fishery Harbour Development Programme which covers the period 1989 to 1993, makes no provision for works at Ballyglass Harbour. A new Development Programme to cover the period 1993 to 1997 is currently being drawn up and maritime local authorities have been invited to submit development proposals for inclusion in the new Development Programme.
Pending finalisation of the programme, which will rely to a significant extent on the priorities submitted by the local authorities, it is difficult at this stage to say if any funds can be made available by my Department for development works at Ballyglass Harbour.
