Question:

196 Mr. Connor asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the unduly long delay in sanctioning the commencement of work on the Flagford group water scheme, Carrick-on-Shannon; and if this scheme will be sanctioned before the end of this summer.

Minister for the Environment (Mr. Smith):

The design of this scheme had to be revised to cater for an increase in the membership. The revised proposal is being costed in my Department with a view to assessing its economic viability. It is not possible at this stage to indicate when the scheme may be approved.
