Question:117 Mr. V. Brady asked the Minister for Finance if he will outline the appropriate costs of the work programme being undertaken on the Royal Canal.

The total cost of re-opening the Royal Canal from Dublin to Mullingar will be in the region of £4 million. The cost of re-opening the Canal to navigation between Mullingar and the River Shannon will be of the order of £7 million.
