Question:384 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will give details of the EC regulations which govern the use of insecticides in/on fresh water streams.

Insecticides for all uses, including aquatic uses, are subject to the provisions of the European Communities (Classification, Packaging and Labelling of Pesticides) Regulations 1985 to 1991. No insecticides have been cleared or notified for use for direct application to fresh water streams or ponds.
