71 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will confirm that the proposed takeover of a company (details supplied) has been referred to the Competition Authority; when it is expected that a decision will be made on the matter; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The proposed takeover has not been referred to the Competition Authority. Under the terms of the relevant mergers legislation I have until 1 November 1992 to decide whether this proposed takeover should be referred to the Competition Authority. I will assess the detailed information I have received and make my decision at the earliest possible date.
