Question:

43 Mrs. Fennell asked the Minister for Labour if he will outline (a) the number of women on the boards of agencies and companies under his control at the end of 1991 and (b) the plans he has to increase that number in 1992; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

With regard to part (b) of the question, representation on boards under my Department's aegis is tripartite, i.e. representative of employers, trade unions and Government. It is my intention, when requesting nominations to the boards, to bring to the attention of the nominating bodies the policy of adequate representation of women.
