186 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for Social Welfare the average weekly PRSI contribution paid by (a) employed workers and (b) the self employed, for the latest year for which figures are available.

187 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for Social Welfare the average weekly PRSI contributions per employee paid by employers for the latest year for which figures are available.

It is proposed to take Questions Nos. 186 and 187 together.

Details of payments of social insurance contributions are maintained on an annual rather than a weekly basis, and in respect of employments rather than employed persons. Estimates of average annual social insurance contributions per employment in the 1991-92 tax year are as set out below:
