Vol. 424 No. 1

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefit.

Paul Bradford

Question:

147 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Social Welfare if a person (details supplied) in County Cork is due a payment under the Equality Arrears Directive; if so, the amount due; and when payment will issue.

Payment of arrears under the Equal Treatment provisions is being made on a phased basis in 1992, 1993 and 1994. Phase 1 payments, which include arrears in respect of the higher personal rates of benefit and extra duration of Unemployment Benefit, commenced last August and having regard to the volume of claims involved it is expected to have these completed by February 1993.

The claim of the person concerned will be processed as soon as possible and any arrears due will be paid to her in accordance with the phased arrangements.
