Vol. 424 No. 8

Written Answers. - Cork Hospital Surgery Fee.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

185 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Health the reason medical card holders who undergo tubal ligation operations at the South Infirmary, Cork City for the purpose of family planning are obliged to pay a hospital fee of £50; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Having examined the matter I have decided that this charge is inappropriate. I am instructing the voluntary hospital concerned to withdraw it.
