Question:

226 Mr. Hilliard asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the total numbers of sheep farmers in County Meath; the total headage payments made to these for the years 1991 and 1992; and the percentage of those in the disadvantaged area.

The following table sets out the position:

Under the Ewe Premium Scheme approximately 25 per cent of the applicants are located in the disadvantaged area in County Meath.
It is agreed that a further £1.1 million will be paid shortly as second instalments of the 1992 Ewe Premium.
