Vol. 424 No. 9

Written Answers. - Abolition of Land Commission.

Ivan Yates

Question:

136 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the proposals, if any, he has to establish any form of land authority now that the Land Commission is being abolished.

On the dissolution of the Land Commission the remaining functions of the Commission will be transferred to a special unit of my Department.

The expert review group comprising representatives of my Department and the farming organisations set up under theProgramme for Economic and Social Progress has been asked to examine the question of establishing a body to monitor overall developments in relation to land use. I expect that the group will report within the next few months.
