Vol. 425 No. 7

Written Answers. - Sligo Storm Damage.

Edward Nealon

Question:

372 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if his attention has been drawn to the widespread damage caused to farm land and farm property in west Sligo by the January storms, in particular by the movement of tonnes of stone and gravel from the foreshore on to farm land; if his attention has further been drawn to the fact that following similar damage in the mid eighties his predecessor sanctioned dry land reclamation to help out in the emergency; and the plans, if any, he has to help the farmers now affected.

I am aware that some damage has been caused to farm land in west Sligo by the movement of debris from the foreshore in the January storms. At present, however, there are no funds available to my Department which could be used for such cases.
