87 Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if the Government will provide financial or technical assistance for the holding of the planned referendum in April, 1993, to determine the future of Eritrea; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am glad to state that it is the Government's intention to provide assistance for the holding of the planned referendum in Eritrea in April 1993. Discussions are taking place with the Eritrean authorities on the nature of the assistance to be provided.
